Violin Lessons

Hello to all violinists and those who want to become one,
Hello to all parents,

Whether you’re just starting out, have been playing for years, or perform professionally on stage, playing the violin is wonderful, and it’s always worth starting (again) or continuing. If you don’t have your own instrument yet, I’d be happy to advise you and help you—or your parents—find one that’s right for you.

My lessons are therefore designed for players of all levels and backgrounds and follow a holistic approach that focuses on a solid foundation in technique and music theory, with a clear emphasis on ensemble playing.
With my violin class in Leipzig, we work as a large ensemble to prepare 1–2 concert programs each year, covering a wide variety of musical genres. In addition to teaching solid playing technique, practical music theory, and a broad repertoire of diverse musical styles, I am committed to broadening students’ perspectives and helping them understand and use the violin not only as a melodic instrument but also as an accompaniment—that is, a harmonic and rhythmic instrument—thereby fostering a deeper musical understanding.

I have been teaching for over 20 years now, and my joy, dedication, and curiosity about this fantastic instrument—and how to approach it—continue to grow. It’s quite simple: I love violins :-)!

In addition to my work as a violin teacher, I lead the Leipzig Klezmer Tunelearning and jam sessions and offer courses and workshops on klezmer music, improvisation, and music theory throughout Germany and neighboring countries.

If any of this piques your interest, I’d love to meet you for a free trial lesson, answer any questions you may have, and accompany you on your journey with the violin.

Just send me an email at violin@alinabauer.eu and we’ll schedule our first meeting.

Lessons can be held in German, English, or Dutch.
Location: Leipzig Zentrum-Ost, near the Köhlerstraße stop

** Adults / Working Professionals:
– 45 min (€40/hr) = €120/month – 60 min (€45/hr) = €135/month

[If this seems expensive, here is the German Music Council’s (DMR) definition of remuneration for private lessons with certified instrumental teachers (to prevent precarious working conditions) as of March 1, 2026: Minimum fee: €56 for 45 min or €74 for 60 min. Appropriate remuneration: €67 for 45 minutes or €89 for 60 minutes.]
