Şuanda – Traditional Music of Eastern Europe and Asia Minor
Şuanda (shuanda) is the Turkish word for “at the moment / right now” and thus the motto of this young trio.
We give traditional music from bygone eras in the countries of Eastern Europe and Asia Minor a moment’s space in the present, immersing the “now” for a moment in the imagination of times past. Drawing on klezmer and its connections to surrounding musical traditions, we have thus put together a varied program of energetic music from Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Greece, and Turkey, through which we seek to trace the history of long-past peoples’ movements.
We strive to create unique moments of enjoyment that can serve as the setting for a wide variety of occasions: From a classical concert evening to musical entertainment for private or corporate celebrations, anything is possible.
